Assignment 5: Final Zine

When thinking about what I wanted to create for Assignment 5, I knew I wanted to use my second magazine cover idea (the one I did not pick for my final design). It incorporated the group of dancers to the left that I cut out from individual photos and placed together in a way that looked pleasing. My original intention was to include the whole team. However, not everyone was going to fit on the full spread so I stuck to three on each side. These pictures were originally taken on the football field which is why I decided to use that as my background image. I was struggling to figure out what text to incorporate but I realized that I could include our team motto which is what I decided to place above the dancers. I am not in love with the final outcome of my illustration (I thought it would be best to go the collage route since I thought it would fit better with my overall design), and I think their is different ways in which I could have placed the text. Moving forward, I went back and added our social media sites to the back cover to fill the empty space that was once there. I also added in a couple snapshot pages of photographs from football and basketball season and updated the table of contents page to include these new pages. I took other feedback I received and added more space between the images/captions and headings/subheadings. Overall, I am very pleased with the final outcome of my zine and it was definitely my favorite project this semester. In the future, I hope to print multiples of this zine and give them to teammates or anyone interested in trying out. I plan to update this each year not only to keep everyone up to date but to also serve as a memory holder.
