Assignment 4

As mentioned in assignment 3, my zine is about the University of Toledo Dance team. Their were many ideas that I wanted to highlight and include in the interior of my magazine. I also wanted to keep the inside simple, organized, and easy to read. First, I began with a "table of contents" page to allow the viewers to easily find what their looking for or interesting in reading about. Next, I thought it would be very important to provide history on how the program started so I did some researching and was able to find old articles from various years that gave great information. Since I have decided to focus my zine on the 2019-20 year, I wanted to include a page of all the members with their grade (similar to a yearbook almost). If I update and physically produce my zine each year, I thought it would be neat to be able to see all of the members and alumni of the program from every season which also inspired me to create this page. As well as the members, I decided to focus a page on the coaches as well and included a biography of their dance history, achievements, involvements, etc. since they play an important role and are our mentors. My 5th page is all about what the team does, participates in, and how being a member can have personal impact on oneself so readers can learn in depth about what we do and who we are. Finally, the last page of the zine is about nationals which has a big impact on our season and is definitely worth a whole page explanation since so much goes into one performance.

  1. Hey Logan,

I really like the simplistic and classical style of spreads that you had for your zine. I also really like your decision of using navy and yellow as the colors in your photos in your zine tying in the fact that it's for the UT dance team. I also really like the idea of having one page with all of the girls on the team and saying their year as well. I think that it would also be interesting if you were able to have some more boxes having quotes from other people talking about what it's like being on the team. Over all I really do like your zine and I'm very excited to see what the final zine will look like. Great job!

  2. Hi Logan!

I think your zine interiors are really well done! I can tell you put a lot of thought and consideration into the design of all the pages. I love the table of contents page and how you arranged the photos on that page, I think it gives it a really cool look. I also really like the "how it all began" page and how you gave the readers some background info...I personally always love to read about how things started. I think everything looks clean and well placed as well. I agree with Susan, I think it would be interesting to have more quotes from more of the members of the team! I think you did an excellent job and I cannot wait to see the completed zine!
