Assignment 1
The Bauhaus served as my source of inspiration for this assignment. As stated before, I am really intrigued by the use of geometry that is simple yet complex, and the minimalistic color palette that goes along with it. I stuck to the primary colors, additionally cream, green, and black to expand the range of color options I could use. Throughout my animation, I really wanted to incorporate as much as possible within the minute and fill the frames with various shapes that would create pleasing compositions. With sticking to circles, squares, rectangles, and lines, my goal was to develop scenes that were alike but also contrasting from one another by using different techniques/transitions. I did not want my animation to feel repetitive over time so I planned my intentions for each composition ahead of time. The way shapes transition into/out of the frame, appear, disappear, etc. was something I really considered. Along with how they reacted if one shape was to come in or out a certain way. Specifically, secondary action, squash/stretch, pose-to-pose, etc. are a few of the principles of animation that I included. Although I feel my timing is quick at times, I did not want everything to be the same exact speed. Overall, I really enjoyed completing this assignment and diving deeper into what After Effects has to offer. I look forward to potentially expanding this animation in the future as well.
