Successful Animation Examples

Example 1

What I like and find successful about this animation is the fact that all of the characters look related to one another and fit into a "family." You can tell they were designed using similar attributes and traits but they are still all unique from one another. The overall motion throughout this animation is very smooth and there is no choppy parts that break the flow so it feels very consistent. I also enjoy how there is a slight "pause" within each scene so the viewer can get a brief moment to view all of the elements within the frame (instead of the animation going to quick). There is so much detail within this quick 20 seconds that I appreciate because it really makes the animation come to life and feel more realistic.

Example 2 (number 14)

In this Uber animation, I really like the use of the cat because it makes it more memorable and enjoyable to watch. When it comes to motion and exaggeration, it was clever to have the phone move or have vibration lines come off of it when it receives a notification, for example. That additional level of detail adds so much more character which really draws the viewer in. Again, the animation runs at a reasonable pace, has a cohesive theme, etc. that aids in its overall success.

Example 3 (number 25)

In this animation for Surge, I noticed that every "action" has a "reaction." For example, if a droplet of water falls into a puddle, then water lines/waves appear. Like stated in the Uber animation, all of these motion details/exaggeration marks make such a huge difference even though they may seem so small to the average viewer.  The overall feel, theme, color palette, characters, etc. all remain consistent as the animation runs at a very steady and ideal pace.
